Nungwi Beach
Located approximately an hour’s drive north of Zanzibar City, Nungwi beach offers numerous Zanzibar accommodation options like beautiful resorts, budget backpackers and luxury hotels. Some things to do in Zanzibar include unwinding and sipping on a coconut or cocktail while watching the dhows drift across the ocean’s horizon.
Being a predominantly Muslim country, both men and women wear loose-fitting clothing, covering their legs and shoulders, with the exception of the beach, where swimwear is acceptable for visitors. This is good to remember when joining tours and visiting local towns. Alcohol is available in resorts and hotels around Zanzibar, but not offered in the local restaurants or shops.
2. Explore Kendwa for Beach Activities
The Eastern part of the island is tidal, so if you’re after all-day swimming, head towards the Northern and Western beaches, such as Kendwa.
The ocean here is a wonderful place to swim and since there have not been any recorded shark attacks in the recent past, Kendwa is the perfect destination for beach holidays and relaxing things to do in Zanzibar.
