Like a few Zanzibar hotels, Park Hyatt Zanzibar is steeped in as much history as the surrounding town and is made up of buildings that date back to the 19^th century. As an architectural masterpiece, the hotel’s design showcases the Swahili culture combined with strong Arabian, Persian, Indian and European influences.

Location and Views

As a designated UNESCO heritage site, Stone Town is renowned for its key attractions like the Old Fort, the Peace Memorial Museum, Forodhani Gardens and the House of Wonders – all of which are within walking distance from the hotel.

As a stark contrast to the usual secluded island experience, guests are fully immersed in the local charm of the town. The Park Hyatt Zanzibar overlooks a popular beach that is enjoyed throughout the day and idyllic waters filled with fishing boats. 

At the same time, the hotel offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of Stone Town. An ocean-facing infinity pool provides a tranquil place to relax after a busy day exploring the town. Light lunches and refreshments can be ordered from the Pool Lounge while soaking in the sun and scenic views.

Rooms and Architecture 

With intricate carvings dating back to the 19^th century, the hotel is nothing short of an architectural masterpiece. There are two parts to Park Hyatt Zanzibar – the old Mambo Msiig Mansion and the new Zamani Residence. 

The Mambo Msiig takes you back in time with its historic, hand-crafted design that centres around a peaceful courtyard. Its ancient architecture is seamlessly blended into the contemporary Zamani Residence.

The newly constructed building offers most of the hotel’s 67 inviting guest rooms and 11 suites. Blending the old with the new, the rooms provide the comfort of modern designs with a sense of timelessness. Standard guestrooms are generous when it comes to space, which is only enhanced by the panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. 

An exclusive elevator takes you to the Royal Residence suite where you are provided with a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and three spacious bedrooms. For endless ocean views, the Zamani Presidential Suite offers a single king bed, with the added perks of an outdoor shower and private terrace.

Other ocean-facing suites include the Bahari Terrace Suite and Park Suite King. The Zanzibar Suite is hosted on two floors with a bedroom, dining room and separate guest powder room.

All guest rooms come equipped with a minibar, air conditioning and flat-screen television. Standard guest rooms start from $360 per night for one of the ‘Park King’ rooms up to $500 per night for one of ‘Park Deluxe King’ rooms. The most expensive Zamani Presidential Suite costs $1850 per night.

Food and Drink

The Zamani Residence offers everything from authentic Zanzibari restaurants to casual dining with its array of local and international cuisine. 

The Library and Veranda, Dining Room and Living Room are designed to make you feel right at home with purposefully-built, inviting interiors. 

Every dining experience will be accompanied by a fresh ocean breeze and unparalleled views, and are distinguished only by feel and design. The Dining Room is marked by its traditional Omani colonial interior and informal atmosphere.

Here is the schedule for meals at the Park Hyatt Zanzibar:

• Breakfast is served until 11 am
• Lunch is served until 3 pm
• Dinner starts at 6 pm 

With its wide selection of historic books and relaxing lounge area, the Library is the perfect place for a pre or post-dinner cocktail with friends. Take a book and escape onto the Veranda where you will be met with the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.  

For a quick bite to eat and refreshing drinks, the Pool Lounge is open for most of the day. Alongside the scenic oceanfront infinity pool, you can order everything from renowned fish dishes to traditional, light lunches.
